Signs of the Zodiac

In astrology the use of zodiacal signs in horoscopic interpretation is attributed with a lot of power and meaning. This is where the popular media depiction of being born with your sun in a particular zodiacal sign originates. If you studied astrology in depth you would find that you spend a lot of time in this area learning how each planet placed in a sign will work either positively or negatively.

The astrological interpretative system is complex and has evolved over hundreds of years. It has become a blend of techniques from many cultures and these techniques have largely become outdated and worthless in our modern western culture. Unfortunately however this is still how astrology is taught in the west. The study itself is useful from a historical perspective, however it does not offer a scientific basis on which to investigate the effect of the cosmos upon organic life.

The use of zodiacal signs in cosmobiology is only for conveniently measuring where a cosmic body is in relation to other bodies and in relation to our own Earth. Each season is divided into three signs and each has a cardinal, fixed and mutable sign within it. These seasonal divisions are known as quadruplicities. The positions of planetary bodies as viewed from Earth are measured using these zodiacal signs.

In order to base our work on sound scientific principles we don't use the signs for interpretative purposes. Our work is to investigate the possible effects of the cosmos upon organic life on Earth, and since the signs as used in the zodiac are really arbitrary they don't tie to any natural phenomena beyond their seasonal representation. The planetary positions and relationships do and that is where the majority of our work is in establishing what the relationships are and what the likely effect upon an individual will be.

Below is the table of zodiacal signs as used in cosmobiology. There is little more to learn than what is contained in this table, however it is important to know it thoroughly.
